I just happened (if there is such a thing, I think it was planned really) across this article on 3 Surprising Reasons to Give Up Soda from Rodale News. But first one quick story of a high schooler who tried to encourage his friends to stay away from alcoholic beverages. He was pretty explicit in clarifying the dangers to their health. But then he saw a documentary on soda (pop) and decided it was time to give that up, especially if he was concerned about health issues. He did it. He gave it up in high school. You can do it. Here’s just one of the 3 surprising reasons. You can see this article at http://www.rodalenews.com/soda-health-problems right now.

In America, many sodas are sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup that has been shown to cause even worse fat buildup. Avoid turning to diet soda as a healthy alternative. Artificial sweeteners and food dyes have been linked to brain cell damage and hyperactivity; people who drink diet soda are also more prone to developing diabetes.

Living Foods Don’t Putrefy and Throw Poisons Back atcha (Eliminate fat*)

Quick Quote of the Day

“While sitting in the digestive tract, fats turn rancid, carbohydrates ferment, and protein foods putrefy. This throws poisons back into the body, causing gas, constipation, halitosis, heartburn, headaches, eye troubles, and many other serious conditions.”

*Don’t misinterpret this to mean that you should eliminate fat in your diet. We do need some fats in our diet. what is meant by the parenthetical portion of this post’s title follows.

When fats come from healthy foods like nuts and seeds, and are combined with vegetables and fruits, those fats are well digested. It’s not the same as the oils in your dressing. Some of the fat is pushed into the liver to be eliminated. That’s a good thing. Elimination of unnecessary fats, but some fats are useful to the body.

Diabetes Reversal: Beginner’s Guide to Getting Rid of Type II Diabetes

Beginner’s Guide to Diabetes Reversal

This will be a walk in the park. Follow our guide with these simple baby steps for week one toward reversing diseases of all kinds.

Step One for Beginners: Change in Diet

I have helped thousands of people with type 2 diabetes to reduce and eliminate their disease with nutrient-dense food. A large majority of them have become nondiabetic.

Joel Fuhrman, M. D.

Eating is so darn necessary. When you are switching from a diet with carbs and fats and more animal products, it’s a good idea to cleanse your system with a vegetable juice fast. Grab a copy of this DVD to learn what fasting on vegetable juice did for Joe Cross and two Americans who took his advice. This is a very inspiring, humorous documentary which you will watch over and over just to hear the amazing drops in numbers (triclycerides, weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, and meds). It will spur you on to successful health habits. More on this later.

Begin at the Beginning

Advance to baby step 1; grab your copy by clicking this link  http://amzn.to/1wfu117 right now.

Step one was so easy, just watch a video. I found a copy at my local library.

Beginner Step 2 to Reversing Diabetes and Living Longer: Week One

Eat a green salad every day this week. Cut down on carbs. It would be great if you could buy organic vegetables for your salad and make it at home but if you must eat out, try to find a place that uses organic vegetables. A few alfalfa sprouts with some chia seeds will add to your green and red colors (tomato, red and green pepper slices, arugula, Romaine lettuce, (iceberg is less nutritious), mushrooms and onions. I like some ground or chopped almonds. Here’s a recipe for healthy dressing from a video by Joel Fuhrman on Dr. Fuhrman’s Secrets to Healthy Cooking. It’s found as well in his book The End of Diabetes.

Russian Fig Dressing/Dip

5 Tablespoons of low- or no-salt pasta sauce

2 Tablespoons fig vinegar or balsamic vinegar

3 Tablespoons raw almond butter or 1.5 ounces raw almonds

2 Tablespoons of raw sunflower seeds

Blend all ingredients in a food processor or high-powered blender until smooth. Serve, or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

That’s really a baby step. We want to try a vegetable juice fast eventually. Let’s assume you are a beginner in the field of cleansing your system of empty carbs and animal products. Don’t panic at the “F” word. Fasting isn’t scary and it can be a matter of not eating between your three meals. It can be giving up dinner once a week allowing the body to experience hunger. That is not a bad thing. As I’ve said in other posts, always check with your doctor before making changes in your diet if you are on medication. (While you’re chatting with him, ask him how many semesters of study were dedicated to nutrition and the effect of diet on disease. And ask the name of his/her college or university. Let me know in the comments area. I really want to have an answer #notarhetoricalquestion.)

Beginner Step 3: Week One

Walk, ride bike, dance, or do some upper body work with a home video for at least 20 – 30 minutes three times this week. Find a friend to join you and make it fun.

Diabetes? Stop Treating Your Type II Diabetes (Get Rid of it)

When I started investigating insurance promos to decide on a Medicare advantage plan, I met lots of senior citizens doing the same search. Jean 90 BAM 004

Their interests were in an insurance that had a good plan D coverage. In case you don’t know, plan D is for prescription drug coverage. Many of these over-sixty-five folks were stretching their budgets for numerous drug prescriptions for high blood pressure, diabetes, dementia, cancer, high cholesterol, heart disease, arthritis, you name it. I thought, “Seriously? Is all this medication necessary?” I started studying the topic and want to share this documented information with you.

Type II Diabetes and Nutrition

“Diabetes is a nutritionally related problem and should be treated nutritionally.” Joel Fuhrman, MD

retro buffet 031

Today’s topic is medications for Type II diabetes. How necessary are they? For instance, are you taking insulin so that you can eat more of the foods that are the cause of the disease? Is it possible to get rid of Type II diabetes by changing your eating habits? Does adipose tissue make a difference? Studies show without extra body weight almost all Type II diabetics can come off insulin.¹

Drugs Shorten Life Span

In fact, drugs can lead to worse problems and shorten your life span according to tests done by the National Heart and Lung Association. The Accorda study showed the more drugs diabetics were given the higher the mortality rate. So many more deaths occurred in patients treated more aggressively that the study was cut short.²

NOTE: You are NOT going to stop your medication without discussing it with your doctor.

Wheat Gluten After Digestion, Breaks Blood-Brain Barrier Like Opiates

Quick Tip of the Day

Quickie Quiz: What do wheat and opiates/morphine have in common?

Our quick tip of the day is a quote from William Davis, M. D. and author of Wheat Belly and preventive cardiologist.

image thanks to AGGRAND.com

image thanks to AGGRAND.com

Did you come up with an answer? Did-ya-no(did you know) we have a blood-brain barrier? That’s a very protective tool we’ve been given to protect our brains from all the junk in the blood stream that will eventually be cleansed by our liver hopefully.

Studies by Dr. Christine Zioudrou and her colleagues at the NIH subjected gluten to the substances which would be found in the stomach (ie pepsin, a stomach enzyme, and hydrochloricacid (stomach acid). This degraded the gluten to a mix of polypeptides, William Davis writes in his book Wheat Belly (p48,49).

“These polypeptides were discovered to have the peculiar ability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier that separates the bloodstream from the brain. …The brain is highly sensitive to the wide variety of substances that gain entry to the blood, some of which could provoke undesirable effects should they cross into your amygdala, hippo-campus, cerebral corte, or other brain structure. Once having gained entry into the brain, wheat polypeptides bind to the brain’s morphine receptor, the very same receptor to which opiate drugs bind.”

Is that hideous or what?

I.  Physical aspects on this blog will cover:

1. Eating: food intake, ie. how to shop, care for and prepare your food for optimal     health. What’s in it for me? What nutrients can you derive from which foods? Maybe you’re a daycare provider and need to learn what foods will psych them up or calm them down?

2. Exercise: Not boring but exciting.

3. Even Elimination: Yeah, how to position yourself properly while pooping. Thus         the hideous in our name. We actually have a squattingtoiletplatform video. See the diagram of the choked bowel by scrolling down below that video. (Family members, calm down, I’m not in the video even though my major mantra has been to Embarrass My Kids. But we’re all mature adults here, right?

II.  Spiritual
